Your trek begins with a transfer to Machame Gate for registration, and from here, you embark on a hike through the dense and lush rainforest. The path is well-marked and relatively steep, winding through towering trees and dense undergrowth, home to monkeys and colorful birds.
As you ascend, the air becomes cooler, and the sounds of the forest give way to the rhythm of your footsteps. By afternoon, you’ll arrive at Machame Camp, where you’ll rest for the night and enjoy the stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes.

Today, the trek continues from Machame Camp through a fascinating landscape of moorland, characterized by heather and other alpine plants. The trail ascends steadily, offering incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s peak in the distance.
As you climb, the vegetation becomes sparse, and you’ll pass the treeline, transitioning into a more barren and rockier environment. After a steady ascent, you will reach Shira Camp, where you can rest and acclimatize, with panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Today, you will continue your ascent through a mix of alpine desert and moorland zones. The trek starts with a gentle climb, leading to the Lava Tower, a unique volcanic rock formation that stands out in the desert-like landscape.
After reaching the Lava Tower (4,600 meters), the descent begins towards Barranco Camp, where the dramatic Barranco Wall looms ahead. The camp sits in a valley, and it’s a great spot to rest and take in the stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

After a hearty breakfast, you’ll tackle the famous Barranco Wall, a rocky climb that will challenge your strength and determination. The wall is not technically difficult but requires steady pacing and focus as you scramble up the rocks.
Once at the top, the terrain becomes gentler, and you’ll pass through the alpine desert zone, with its sparse vegetation and rugged scenery. Arrive at Karanga Camp in the afternoon, a perfect place to rest and acclimatize for the final push to the summit.

Today’s hike takes you to Barafu Camp, which sits on a ridge and offers incredible views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit, with the peak of Kibo in full view.
The trail winds through the alpine desert, where the landscape is stark and windswept, with a few hardy plants scattered across the terrain. Barafu Camp is your base camp before your summit attempt, and the altitude here can make the air feel thinner. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for your midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak.

The summit day begins at midnight, with a challenging hike in the cold and dark as you ascend through the arctic zone. The climb is demanding, but as you near the crater rim, you’ll witness the awe-inspiring sunrise over the African plains.
Reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, and take in the unparalleled panoramic views. After celebrating your triumph, begin the descent to Barafu Camp for a brief rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp, where you will spend the night and reflect on your incredible journey.

On your final day, descend through the lush rainforest, retracing your steps down the mountain. The trail is much gentler today, offering a peaceful walk through the shaded forest, where you may encounter wildlife and enjoy the vibrant vegetation.
As you approach Mweka Gate, celebrate the completion of your Kilimanjaro adventure with your trekking team. Afterward, you’ll transfer back to Moshi to relax and share your experiences.
